Vish Nandlall is an accomplished technology executive and telecommunications expert currently based in Ottawa, Canada.
Vish has launched and led highly successful big data and machine learning R&D teams. While working with Australia’s leading mobile device, home phone, and broadband internet provider, Vish built a 70-person data science and engineering team that delivered $100 million AUD in business process improvements and $10 million AUD in commercial benefit within just 18 months. He also established an innovation lab and customer co-creation process that delivered over 30 projects across 20 clients. Vish Nandlall also designed and implemented an effective digital transformation agenda by initiating and negotiating a multimillion dollar stake in joint venture with Pivotal Labs. He designed high-level architecture for adopting the Cloud Foundry Platform, before he was elected to the Board of the Linux Foundation Cloud Foundry project.
Vish began his career with Nortel Networks, here he designed the telecom industry’s first distributed processing system of voice applications. Vish also provided critical resource in pioneering 10Gbps IP forwarding, and he spearheaded Nortel’s first LTE trial system. After beginning with the company as an XA-Core System Architect, Vish became the firm’s Chief Technology Officer in 2005. He has been named a Nortel Distinguished Engineer for his technical expertise across the organization’s IP, optical, and wireless products.
Vish Nandlall went on to serve as CTO for Ericsson North America. During his tenure there, Vish defined the multinational company’s regional market strategy and technology roadmap. He delivered a $3 billion growth strategy in digital media, IT transformation, cloud, and next generation IP networks.
A regular conference speaker, Vish Nandlall is widely renowned for his leadership within the telecom industry.
Vish holds a fundamental patent for LTE, and he has published a number of widely-cited IEEE LTE papers. Additionally, he holds multiple patents for cloud mobile application and communication service designs.
Vish Nandlall has served as a director and policy chair for TIA, and he is a member of the ATIS board, the FCC technology advisory committee, and the Cloud Foundry board. He has also sat on the EMC (now Dell Technologies) technology advisory board. Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull named Vish to the “Knowledge Nation 100,” in recognition of his work towards realizing the country’s innovation goals. He has also been recognized by Global Telecom Business as one of their top “50 CTOs to Watch.”
